About the instructor: Trudy Flaherty, RYT

After being diagnosed with arthritis in 1994, Trudy turned to a home yoga practice as a way to help control the pain in her joints. In 1995 Trudy began studying with Kit Elhers and more recently with Teresa Bushnell. In 2001 she immersed herself for a month at the Shambhave School of Yoga at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat, Rollinsville, Colorado, and attained her 200 hour Certification and is a registered as a Yoga Alliance Teacher, and has taught Hatha Yoga ever since. Since that time Trudy has enhanced her practice by studying with Nischala Joy Devi and has completed the “Yoga of the Heart” Cardiac Teacher Training, Homosassa Springs, Florida. She has taken several workshops with, Cora Wen, Rolf Gates, Patricia Walden, Rodney Yee, Patricia Sullivan and Amy Mathews. Trudy has developed and teaches Water Yoga and recently a Kid’s Yoga Class for ADHD.

Trudy has enhanced here practice to include certification in Pilates, through SCW EDU Pilates Mat work and Small Apparatus, Chicago, Illinois. In 2003 she became certified to teach T’ai Chi and Qi Gong “Movement and Improvement” through Rising Phoenix Shoulders Down Teacher Program, Atlanta, Georgia. And most recently after dabbling in Feng Shui for years she took it a step further and studied with Helen and James Jay at China Studies in Nevada City, California and has become a Certified Feng Shui Consultant.

Despite all the certifications and continued studies Trudy is most excited learning from her students. “I love being around my students, they are so energizing and fun loving, I know that I can come to class and be taught something daily”. “It is very rewarding to see students in every stage of life being willing and open to try something new to them”.

Trudy owns and operates Just Breathe Yoga, located inside Anytime Fitness at 810 E 56th St St.2, Kearney,NE.

She has resided in Kearney for over 27 years and lives there with her husband Kyle and an Airedale Terrier, Stuart, and rescue Whippet-Mix, Sophie who now thinks she rules the household.
